It happens to everybody. As you get older and the world of your youth fades, the shock of the new hits you in the face like a wet sponge thrown by an unfunny clown.
innovation. Neophobia literally means a fear of novelty. Another way of looking at it is a resistance to change or conservatism.
increasingly set in our ways, The preferences of our children and grandchildren begin to seem increasingly bizarre, even crazy.
For instance, different words or slang from their seniors. To the older generation, this seems like a corruption of the language, but in fact, it is something that every generation does in an attempt to establish a unique identity for itself and so that individuals can bond with their peers.
different products and behave in ways that set them apart from their parents and grandparents. There is nothing inherently wrong with this, but it is bewildering to older generations.
This is why it is important to keep the mind flexible by learning new skills and exercising the brain and body. In China, the elderly mostly do this through dance. In fact, as one of the best ways to keep physically and mentally fit.
These days, but creaking middle-age, trends that are popular among teenagers and 20-somethings. I try to understand, but no matter how I try, my mind still rebels and tells me something is wrong.
One new phenomenon is the advent of sexting. Apparently now popular in the West, allows potential partners to flirt online before meeting in person. As a part of the getting-to-know-you process, the participants may send each other sexually- If their tastes and expectations match, then they may start dating in reality.
However, for a growing number of young people, for example in Japan, the relationship may never progress beyond the introductory phase conducted in cyberspace.
that the practice of sexting is now regarded as normal by the younger generation,
I mean, can it really be normal to send intimate photographs of your private parts to somebody you have never met in the hope that this will lead to a lasting relationship?
What kind of relationship could this ever be if it is mainly based on viewing private pornographic images and sex talk?
